BARRY'S 8 TRACK REPAIR : Top quality service and repair for VHS and Beta VCR's
On this page, you'll
see why BARRY'S 8T
REPAIR is the place
to have your Beta or
VHS Video Cassette
Recorder serviced.

VCR repair requires
quite a bit more than
the standard test
equipment found in
most repair shops.

A shop that lacks the
required equipment,
gauges and especially
alignment tapes can
NOT offer return to
factory specs, no
matter what they claim.

The fact is, certain
specialized equipment
is absolutely needed
for proper VCR work.

WE REPAIR:

RCA
Zenith
JVC
Magnavox
Emerson
Samsung

NEC

ALL BRANDS!
So let's talk about this fancy equipment, shall we?

Perhaps most important is the Sencore VC93 All Format VCR Analyzer.  This is the ONLY piece of equipment ever made that
can provide a complete and thorough test of the drum and capstan servos, which must be meticulously adjusted for solid,
proper playback of tapes.  We own FOUR of these, and use two on a regular basis - the other two are backup units.

Some shops may have this piece of gear, BUT - this unit requires a very special test tape to perform the servo testing,
and this particular tape is no longer offered by Sencore - not to mention the special servo test cables.  We were lucky
enough to find one that was still in its original box, never opened.  We bought it just for the cables and test tape!
To watch movies at the bench (and
to use as a reference for comparing
customers' VCR's to perfection),
BARRY FONE MUSIC uses the JVC
BR-S822U Professional Studio
Recorder.   This is the very machine
that creates the commercially
recorded VHS movies once found
in stores and tape rental shops.

As JVC invented the VHS format, we feel
most confident using JVC VCR's, and
also have the BR-7000U, BR-7000UR
and BR-7000UA, all of which are
professional broadcast copiers.

Most professional machines don't have
built-in TV tuners and are designed to
run only at SP speed (2 hours / tape).

I have these for sale - Click here
Here's one of our JVC
7000 Series VCR's.  The more
professional models have
direct drive supply and takeup
reel motors, eliminating the
rubber belts and idlers that
only last a few years.  Our
machines must be reliable.

Sampling Digital Storage Oscilloscope with
a bandwidth of 300 MHz, which well
exceeds the requirements of any video,
audio and radio frequency servicing.
We also use a Tektronix 2465A CT, 4
channel 350 MHz scope (not shown).

The HP 3325A is a programmable Audio
Generator which, with a maximum
frequency range from 0 to 60 MHz,
actually covers the video range also.

On the bottom is the Sigma Electronics
TSG-375 Professional Video Generator.
Unlike shop-grade equipment such as
the Sencore VA-62, the Sigma provides
true NTSC and SMPTE video signals,
the exact signals used in television
transmission and at pro TV studios.
We also have a Sencore VA-62 and VA-48
for the less demanding applications.

Our HP 1660C, 136 Channel Logic Analyzer
is for the really tough problems in the digital
System Control and other circuits.  This
instrument allows us to compare the timing
relationships inside processor chips to those
manufacturer's component data sheets.
We also have the HP 8016A Word Generator
which provides predetermined digital words
and signals to drive the suspect circuits.
It's very doubtful that any other VCR shop
on the Internet has this same equipment.

BARRY'S 8 TRACK REPAIR is constantly purchasing all equipment, Tentel gauges,
service manuals, alignment tapes and tools necessary for top quality repair and
maintenance of all types, formats and brands of Video Cassette Recorders.
